Pocket Network now supports Polygon!

On August 12th, we officially announced that from now on Polygon is supported and decentralized RPC access to Polygon’s full stack scaling solution is now possible!

Developers can mint a Polygon RPC endpoint through the Pocket Portal in just a couple of minutes. Making your DApp actually decentralized and gaining the advantages that come with it:

Did you know even users can help drive more relays to the Pocket Network? Simply switch your default Metamask RPC to a Pocket endpoint:

Pocket Network officially supports xDAI

Earlier this month, we announced to officially support xDAI on our network. As of August 26th, the xDAI Archival (000C) is now whitelisted!

This means you can now serve xDAI Archival relays and earn POKT.

Note: DO NOT add 000C to your pocket node stake until you have ensured your xDAI Archival node is working correctly, otherwise your Pocket node will be slashed. Endpoints are not available in the Portal yet but our Settlers of New Chains program provides a baseline of relays to cover your infra costs. We’ll share more once the service is made available to Portal users.

Polygon Grants Hackathon – decentralized RPC access to all participants

Pocket Network is proud to sponsor Polygon Grants! Polygon Grants is the first kind of hackathon organized by Polygon and DoraHacks.

$100k+ in prizes are allocated, $10k from Pocket Network. And 5K+ nodes are ready to go… of course!

πŸ“ˆ Network Heartbeat 🩺

Throughout August, blockchain applications using the Pocket Gateway have driven a total of ~563.4  million requests.

All of which were successfully processed by the network. You read that right, over 500 MILLION requests processed in a single month! That is an increase of 356.3M relays compared to July (+172%!)

In this timeframe, that means nodes have minted a total of 5.63M  POKT, with 89% going to the service nodes (5.01M  POKT), 10% going to the Pocket DAO (563.4K POKT), and 1% going to the block producers (56.3K POKT).

At the time of writing this, there are 4,861  staked nodes in Pocket Network.

Refresh of Weekly Relay Recap #37

Pocket Gateway Stats 08/26 to 09/01

In the last week of August alone, node operators served 201.96M relays from blockchain applications. That means they generated 2.01M POKT with 89% going towards the service nodes (1.79M POKT), 10% going towards the Pocket DAO (201.9k POKT), and 1% going towards the block producers (2.01K POKT).

Relay Rewards in the Last Week of August.

Most Relays in JUNE: 6,561,442 (JUNE 10th)

Most Relays in JULY: 16,062,953 (JULY 23rd)

Most Relays in AUGUST: 40,728,936 (August 31st)

🧰 Developer Updates

Solana (0006) Whitelist

We are making preparations to whitelist Solana (0006) on Thursday September 9th. We advise node runners who wish to support this chain to begin making their own preparations by deploying their own nodes, getting up to sync, and simulating relays to ensure that everything is working as intended.

DO NOT add 0006 to your pocket node stake until you have ensured your Solana node is working correctly, otherwise your Pocket node will be slashed.

Node Pilot V0.7.2 is now available!

ETH, AVAX, and BSC nodes have been updated to the most recent versions. This is a mandatory update for AVAX and BSC.

These versions all have the recent GETH vulnerability patch.

All-hands Community Call Recap

Today (September 3rd), various members tuned in on Discord for the all-hands community call.

During this call, the following items will be focused on:

  • New Desktop Wallet preview
  • POKTscan Updates
  • Community Strategy & Discord Refactor
  • And more…

Can’t join the call? No problem! We’ll provide a recap on our forum shortly.

Governance Updates

PEP-9: Fuse Token Swap is up for voting, voting ends today!

PEP-9 proposes a token swap with FUSE (250k POKT for 750k FUSE) that will result in relays being driven to the network. The FUSE token would be owned by the Pocket DAO and held/managed by the Pocket Foundation. The Pocket Foundation Directors will vote on behalf of the Pocket DAO on all FUSE validator votes.

This is a vital part of the Fuse and Pocket Network ecosystem. Firstly, cross-community governance is important to help decentralize decision-making power. Secondly, the POKT tokens will be used for API calls and to encourage infrastructure on the FUSE network to be built around the Pocket Network community and nodes. Finally, the Fuse tokens can be used by POKT for future community projects that require cross-chain liquidity i.e. bridges, general network fees, or staking and governance.
